In 2013, I joined a continental-wide team that was organizing the first-ever African Youth Charter Summit. The event provided a platform for African youth to assemble and discuss issues that avert them from realizing the full potential of effective relations with their governments on matters that aim to achieve sustainable development.
Being in the organizing committee was a fulfilling assignment and to celebrate Africa Day, I chose to share some quotes from delegates who attended the 2013 summit.
“We must not let the mistakes of our fathers to dictate our way of life but we must let them be part of our guidelines in realizing just governance”
“I feel awakened and from now on, I will convince my circles to opt for serving others than being served. To create opportunities for African grandchildren”
“Mugabe might have failed to nurture a new generation of leadership in his country, that is why it is normally hard for him to trust anyone with Zimbabwe’s leadership”
More quotes from the summit.
“The future is ours but it starts now”
“We need to live for a purpose and have a drive”
“If you want to change things, you must equip yourselves to a higher standard”
“We are here to change the course of the African strategy”
